New Fokker Crashes at Malaybalay ,Many Victims Are Officials Of The P.A.L .By Jess Nievera And Ador Karamihan . Manila International Airport, April 27 (P.N.S) - A new type Fokker Friendship plane, being demonstrated for the Philippine Airlines, crashed a kilometer off the airport in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, this afternoon, it was learned her tonight. Initial reports said than 15 of the 17 persons aboard perished. SURVIVORS The survivors were identified as R.Budiarto of the Indonesian Civil Aeronautics administration, and one Mr. Hokke, Fokker flight engineer. Others aboard the plane that crashed, according to an announcement by Earique Santos ,PAL spokesman . THOSE ABOARD PAL said the aircraft was on Indonesian registry, PK-PFV and owned by the Indonesian state oil company . it was lease to Fokker for demonstration to P.A.L on airport normally used by DC-3's. It is of a more powerful version than the Friendship being used by PAL , The aircraft is not owned by PAL. The plane left Mactan at 1:50 pm for a probing flight on the route Mactan Dipolog-Ozamir-T, Davao-Malaybalay Mactan . According to position report relayed to Manila the aircraft left Davao at 4:33 pr and gave its estimated time of arrival at Malaybalay at 4:55 pm. Shortly after 6 pm the PAL station at Cagavan de Oro reporte that it had received a report form the P.C detachment at Malaybalay that " a Fokker plane burned when about to land at Malaybalay airport" One ambulance, two sixby-six trucks and the Malaybalay fire fighting units rushed to the scene for rescue . P.A.L and C.A.A investigators are leaving Malaybalay at 1:45 am today to assist survivors and look into the cause of the accident. MALAYBALAY, Bukidnon, April 27 (P.N.S)- A pilot's error could have caused the crash of a Fokker Friendship demonstration plane which crashed minutes after takeoff from the local airport this afternoon . There were only two known survivors identified as director Budiarto flight Indonesian inspector who was directing the demonstration flight , and Hauker Lambertes,44 also an Indonesian official. Report received her said 14 were killed. When interviewed at his hospital bed, Budiarto, who was suffering from third degerr burns all over his body , said that the plane crashed minutes after it took off from the airport. According to Budiarto the plane was piloted by a certain Captain Bray from Indonesia , sho was believed among the fatalities . Budiarto told P.N.S that he was against the flight from the local airport, but Bray did not heed his advice . Budiarto said that he had been warned "not to abuse the excellence of the plane " |
